MAASV is pleased to announce an exhibition opportunity open to our members for a quarterly show at the Collector's Gallery at the Oakland Museum of California. We are teaming up for an ongoing series of quarterly shows highlighting never before seen works by MAASV artists
We are accepting applications for a fall exhibition this year.
We're excited to be able to exhibit our member's work and we hope you'll apply.
FEATURING
Twenty pieces each by two artists per quarter, an opening reception, and promotional postcards announcing the show.
ELIGIBILITY
Quarterly exhibition opportunities are open to all current paid members of MAASV and to new members whose payments are received with this submission. California residency and a California Tax ID # (or Social Security #) are also required.
CALL FOR IMAGES
Artists are encouraged to send four digital images of your work to maasv.org@gmail.com on or before September 8, 2008 for screening purposes. Images must be high quality and of the work to be exhibited. See the
submission form for image file and labeling requirements.
EXHIBIT PIECES
A maximum of twenty pieces may be shown at the gallery, more than that may be entered in order for the gallery to be able to choose the work. All pieces must be for sale. Submitted work will be subject to quality control based on the following criteria: Art work must be of the artists original design, not shown in a prior exhibition at the Collectors Gallery, predominantly handmade, high quality, and completed within the last 3 years.
GALLERY COMMISSION
The Collectors Gallery will keep 40% of the retail price from work that is sold. Choose and price your work with this in mind, note that the maximum price per piece should not exceed $8000.
INSURANCE
The Collectors Gallery maintains casualty insurance up to 60% of retail price. Before and after exhibition, it is the artists responsibility to ensure that work in transit is as secure as possible. Work will not be insured by MAASV or it’s representatives. MAASV and it’s members are not liable for damage or loss.
ENTRY FEE
A yearly entry fee of $45 entitles you to exhibit. Entry fees will be used to help promote the exhibition. Send your entry fee, with checks made out to MAASV, along with your signed
entry form. The check will not be cashed until your work is chosen by the gallery manager to be shown in the gallery. STATEMENTS ABOUT THE ENTRIES
Using the
submissions form email a typed statement about each piece you enter. Include the title of the piece, your name, and one short paragraph (25 words or less) about each piece you enter. Describe your influences or inspiration for each piece.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
An up-to-date professional one page artist’s statement is required. When one of your pieces is purchased, the gallery copies this statement and includes it when one of your items is purchased.
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF WORK
See “Artwork Delivery” form for instructions on how to label the artwork. Art work must be delivered during the week prior to the show start date to the Collectors Gallery during their normal business hours. After the exhibit, unsold artwork will be returned to the artists and the artists will pick the work up from the gallery during business hours.
To enter your work for consideration in the exhibit, submit the following :
Do not fold, staple or otherwise bind your submission materials. All forms and other materials should be typewritten. Incomplete, late, or incorrectly submitted or packaged applications will not be considered. CDs and other entry materials will not be returned.
Only digital submissions of images will be considered.
